Cambodia, Thailand, watch out!
'Tis the season to be travelling, tralalalala lalalala...
And 'tis the itinerary for my next holiday.
7 May
Depart KL to Siem Reap.
Check into the Golden Temple Villa.
Explore the temples for the rest of the day and next two days.
10 May
Depart Siem Reap to Phnom Penh by bus at noon and arrive just in time for dinner.
Take a good rest and spend the next day exploring the grim Tol Sleng museum (which tells the history of Pol Pot's regime) and the city.
We're staying at the Boddhi Tree, which is apparently very near the museum itself.
OR
11 May
Depart Siem Reap to Phnom Penh by river ferry first thing in the morning (a more scenic route). This depends on water conditions.
Arrive by late afternoon, check in at the Boddhi Tree and dash to the museum before they close.
12 May
Depart Phnom Penh to Bangkok, early in the morning.
Arrive late morning, check into Asia Hotel.
Explore the MBK / Siam shopping area (within walkin distance) or take a train (just across the road) to Lumpini market, then dinner and/or drinks at a beer garden, and a trip to the Saxophone Bar (was there 5 years ago and it has great live music and jamming sessions!)
13 May
Depart Bangkok to Chiang Mai late morning.
Arrive early afternoon, check into Amora Tapae Hotel.
For the next 3 days - eat, shop, eat, visit the Night Bazaar, eat, shop, eat, visit temples, visit Queen Sirikit's Botanical gardens, eat, maybe check out the mountain and forests, eat, Thai massage, eat, relax, eat, shop, eat.
16 May
Depart Chiang Mai to KL, late morning.
Arrive in KL.
Oh and... uh... er...
You mean that's it?
Crap.
In a nutshell:
10 days
2 countries
2 Amazing Race wannabes
1 scatterbrain (I hope I don't forget anything)
1 eczema patient (who, touch wood, is at the verge of a flare-up)
8 one-way Air Asia tickets
2 bus / river ferry tickets
4 hotels
3 cameras
2 credit cards
Pray for good health, good weather and good bargains! :)
