Finally decided not to do the Bollywood musical. Gonna take a little break! To be honest I haven't quite pulled myself together since the accident. My car's not back from the workshop. And I'm still going around in a borrowed car.
Bollywood's 5-day rehearsal schedule would absolutely wipe me out. Plus I've been getting quite an earful from my folks. It was really fun on the first day of rehearsal though. Learnt how to dance ala Bollywood (super sexy) and Guna's a really cool choreographer. But the storyline, ah, was sorely lacking, with so many cliched themes and characters. Got a feeling it's going to be a very commercial production, with bankable local stars like Nurul (of Nurul & Ajai fame) and Manbai (Kau Ilhamku) in the cast- who are very nice people by the way.
I'm not putting a full stop to all this though. Once I'm more 'mobile' I plan to resume weekly Biomechanics with the ensemble. But I doubt I will or can do Tartuffe.
At the moment, Fancy Poultry (the acapella group I'm with) is looking at the possibility of a long term gig with the Bangkok Jazz Restaurant. Really looking forward to that. We're doing a show for them (in Chulan Square) on 26th January for a KLUE Magazine revamp launch. If the bosses like us, they may contract us on a long term bi-weekly or weekly basis. We only rehearse once or twice a week so that's not too bad.
For now, I'm glad I still have my weekends and nights to have some semblance of a normal life. Let's see how long my itchy butt can take this.

Hey Wei Na.. sorry to hear about your car accident. At least you're alright.. that's the most important thing.
Anyway, you can see my dilemma when I first graduated from Curtin. I knew the realities of normal white-collar jobs and it conflicts strongly with my own reality. Music is just too strong to ignore. I took a big risk, and I don't regret. Whether I make it or not, is probably immaterial. But risk is just a part of life. Just make sure that the risk is worth taking!
However, kudos to you for being so strong in juggling both aspects of your life. Mine's only music and running now. Business only comes in when people calls me up for gigs or a band!
Good luck! Hope to catch you around.. take care.
