The dog
I went dog-hunting over the weekend
First, the SPCA in Ampang. Lots of dogs, young and old.
Really cute too!
It broke my heart to see that some of them are still without a loving home. But I must say the SPCA folks are doing a very good job with them (oh, do buy the Dog or Cat 2006 Calendar and sign the petition online okay?)
I wish I could help them.
But knowing how difficult it was to convince my mom about having a dog, getting one which would be perceived as a 'street dog' would make it more difficult. And I need a dog that's gentle enough for my dad too.
So I saw this labrador puppy.
He's not a tiny little pup anymore, cos at 6 months, he's already 90% his full size. His owner said he'll probably grow another 2 inches or so.
He's got golden cream fur, yellow-brown eyes with a hint of green and a soft pink nose.
Mom wasn't too thrilled about the idea at first. But then I showed her his pictures. Told her how labradors are gentle and intelligent. How they're used as guide dogs for the blind and so on. How they have short fur, easy to groom and easy to keep clean.
Then I involved her by asking her to name the dog if we get it. And told her that she can take him out with her for her morning walks. She looked quite happy about that, and decided to name him Sunshine.
Right now, his owner lives in Shah Alam and already has two rottweilers. The municipal council in that area is very, very strict about dog ownership and allows only a maximum of two dogs in a terrace home. That's why he has to let the labrador go ( in the mean time, the dog is living with his brother in another state and comes back only once in awhile).
Here are some pictures of him, at his current owner's place.
Now that mom's okay, if all goes well, he should have a new home by Christmas.
